Privacy Policy
Effective August 11, 2026 · Last updated August 11, 2026
This policy explains what information richierichlabs.com ("this site," "we," "I") collects from visitors, why it's collected, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to this website only — not to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, or Threads, which are governed by their own privacy policies.
The short version: this site does not run its own advertising or analytics trackers, does not sell personal information, and the only thing you can hand over directly is an email address you choose to submit. Some third parties — the video player, the font service, and affiliate links — do receive data when you use those features. The detail is below.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Richie Rich Labs, operated by Richard, is responsible for the information described here. For any privacy question or request, contact:
- Email: Richard@richierichlabs.com
Include "Privacy request" in the subject line so it gets handled promptly.
2. Information collected
Information you provide
- Email address — if you submit the newsletter form. Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, the host of this site, through its Netlify Forms feature.
- Anything you send by email — if you write to the address above, that message and address are received in a Google Workspace mailbox.
Information collected automatically
- Server and request logs. Like any website, this one is served by a host (Netlify) that automatically records technical information with each request — including IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and a date and time stamp. This is used for delivering the site, security, and troubleshooting.
- No first-party analytics or advertising trackers. This site does not install Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or its own tracking cookies.
Information collected by third parties embedded here
- YouTube video player. The homepage embeds a YouTube player. When the player loads or you interact with it, Google may set cookies and receive data including your IP address and viewing activity, under Google's own privacy policy.
- Google Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from Google's font service, which means your browser makes a request to Google and Google receives your IP address and browser information.
- Affiliate networks. See Section 3, which covers this in full.
3. Affiliate links and third-party tracking technology
Disclosure. Some links on this site and in associated content are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Being an affiliate does not change what gets said about a product — every product is treated the same way as the hardware in the videos.
This site participates in affiliate programs, including networks operated by CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction), and may participate in others over time.
How the tracking works. When you click an affiliate link, the network places a cookie in your browser, or uses an equivalent tracking method such as a tracking identifier appended to the URL. That cookie or identifier records that the click came from this site so any resulting purchase can be attributed and a commission paid. The tracking is performed by the affiliate network and the merchant — not by me — and the data it collects is governed by their privacy policies, not this one. CJ Affiliate's privacy notice is available on its website at cj.com.
What that means in practice. Clicking an affiliate link can result in a third party recording your click, the time of it, the site it came from, and — if you complete a purchase — the fact and value of that transaction. I receive commission and aggregate performance reports from the network. I do not receive your name, address, or payment details from these networks.
How to discontinue the use of these cookies
You have several options, and they work independently of each other:
- Don't click the link. No affiliate cookie is set unless you click an affiliate link. Navigating to a merchant directly, by typing its address into your browser, avoids the tracking entirely.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser. Every major browser lets you block third-party cookies, block all cookies, or delete existing ones — usually under Settings → Privacy. Blocking third-party cookies prevents most affiliate tracking cookies from being stored.
- Use private browsing. A private or incognito window discards cookies when you close it.
- Opt out with the network. Affiliate and advertising networks, including CJ, publish their own opt-out mechanisms in their privacy and cookie notices. Follow the instructions on the relevant network's site.
Blocking cookies will not stop you from reading this site. It may affect how embedded video behaves.
4. How information is used
- To send the newsletter you signed up for, and nothing else — your email is not used for unrelated marketing.
- To reply to messages you send.
- To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the site.
- To understand, in aggregate, how content performs — using platform-level and affiliate-network reports that are not tied to an identifiable visitor of this site.
5. Legal bases for processing (visitors in the EEA and UK)
- Consent — for sending newsletter emails. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for operating and securing the site, including server logs, and for responding to messages you initiate.
6. Sharing your information
Personal information is not sold, rented, or traded. It is shared only with service providers that make this site work, and only to the extent they need it:
- Netlify — website hosting and form submissions.
- Google Workspace — email received at the address above.
- Google / YouTube and Google Fonts — as described in Section 2.
- Affiliate networks — as described in Section 3.
Information may also be disclosed if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect legal rights and safety, and may transfer as part of a business sale or reorganization.
7. Data retention
Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Emails you send are kept as long as the correspondence is useful. Host server logs are retained for a limited period according to the host's standard practice.
8. Your choices and rights
Everyone: you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to the address above. You can also ask what information is held about you and ask for it to be deleted.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it's used, to request deletion, to request correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Personal information is not sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising. Exercising these rights will not result in different treatment.
EEA and UK residents (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, the right to data portability, the right to withdraw consent, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these, email the address in Section 1. Requests are answered within the timeframe the applicable law requires.
9. International visitors
This site is operated in the United States and its service providers are located there. If you visit from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection law may differ from the law where you live.
10. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and personal information is not knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child has provided information here, email the address in Section 1 and it will be deleted. The audience for this content is adults.
11. Security
This site is served over HTTPS, and reasonable measures are used to protect the limited information collected. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
12. Links to other sites
This site links to other websites, including merchants, social platforms, and video hosts. Those sites are not controlled here and their privacy practices are their own. Read their policies before providing information to them.
13. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the site changes or as the law does. Any revision will appear on this page with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will be noted clearly. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
